Sydney Morton originally hails from Cincinnati, Ohio, where she spent her time dancing at The Studio for Dance, CCM, and Cincinnati Ballet, in addition to singing, studying, and in general, over-achieving. Sydney went on to the University of Michigan, where she earned a BFA in Musical Theatre, with minors in Pop Psychology, Psycho Babble, and Trader Joe's Wine. She also studied Shakespeare for six months at The Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts in London, and Improvisation at the Upright Citizens Brigade in NYC.
Sydney's Broadway credits include MOTOWN, (OBC, Florence Ballard), EVITA (OBC, u/s Mistress), MEMPHIS (OBC, Ensemble), and the Chicago company of JERSEY BOYS (Francine). Other theatre credits include NBC's THE SOUND OF MUSIC (Nun, Dancer), HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL at Paper Mill Playhouse (Gabriella).
Sydney's mother gave her a notebook at age 8 and told her to start writing down jokes… They, (the jokes of an 8 year old), might come in handy later, she said. Sadly, Sydney did not listen, and she now has to rely solely on her immature sense of humor and juvenile friends to re-create the fart jokes of her youth. When Sydney is not singing and dancing around for a living, she can be found shooting ridiculous videos (which can be viewed on this page), writing brilliant pieces on her blog, or attempting stand-up at depressing open mic nights!
